Toasted Cinnamon CADA

Why haven’t I tried this before? You know that moment when you try something a little different, not overly radical or anything, but a slight tweet and omg it works and its amazing? Yes, I had one of those moments this morning. I was making CADA (Coconut, Apple, Dates, Almonds) for breakfast this morning and thought “maybe I’ll toast it” and there you have it folks, my big bright idea.

I’m sure someone has done it before, its probably not even that exciting for most of you. Breakfast can be one of the most repetitive meals though, and to come up with something a little ‘new’ is exciting for me. Well, it started my morning off well.

Toasted Cinnamon CADA


120gm coconut, shredded
120gm dates
120gm almonds
2 apple, cored skin on
1/2 tsp cinnamon

*this quantity will make approx. 4-6 adult servings.

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Place all the ingredients into the TM bowl (of food processor) and pulse 2-3 times/1 sec/Turbo or until you get the desire texture.
  • Then tip the contents onto a grease proof paper lined tray and into the oven.
  • Baked the CADA for approximately 20 minutes, turning it and moving it around the tray every 5 minutes. This will stop it from toasting evenly and not burning.

You can pop it in an air tight jar for later (let it cool completely first), or enjoy it warm straight away. Its great with almond milk or just as is, and also makes a great snack on the go. Because of the apple and cinnamon it tastes a lot like eating apple crumble for breakfast (yum).

It’s quick, easy, and makes a great sugar laden cereal alternative. It fills you up and gives you sustainable energy…whats not to like!
